I travel for work. A lot. This past week I hit a major milestone: I "earned" Lifetime Platinum Status with Marriott. Basically this means that I spent over two years in Marriott hotels and accrued over 2 million points. Yippee... Not that I have anything against Marriott. In fact I really like their hotels. It just represents too much time away from my wife and kids. Several months ago, I began thinking about what I could do to make my work trips better. Not sure why it took me so long to come to this obvious conclusion, but I began packing my Nikon D750 with a Nikkor 50 mm prime lens. It is not a fancy set up, but it allows me a great deal of versatility while I bounce around the Pacific Northwest.
This particular shot was taken in the La Jolla Cove area. I had to attend a conference and it does not take too much arm twisting to get me to the ocean. After meetings, I wandered down to the shore and began scouting around. I found these rocks getting pummeled by the waves and thought it would make a really cool shot. I wanted to capture some of the reds and pinks from the sunset amidst the moving water. This was one of my favorite shots of the evening. I hope you like it too.
What have been some of the cool places you have photographed on your work trips?
